pretty sure I had that jet pack thingie.
it looks awfully familiar.
I'm reading this book:
Captain Action: the Original Super Hero Action Figure by Michael Eury
& boy oh boy is it cool (& packed full of info & pictures)
the section on art-most of it by Murphey Anderson (outta DC) is neat-o
seeing some of the prices from the Sears Wishbook ads-
$3.44 for the Captain
$3.89 for the costumes
$7.99 for the car!!!!!
blows me away......
This I find amazing-
the first release required rights from DC, Marvel, King Features & the Rather Corporation (for the Lone Ranger)
and that's all from the first few pages of a 175 page book-
The only flaws I see are that I would have liked a few more color pages........
& there's no real info on why the line came to a hault.
I wish this guy would do a whole "Best Of the West" book now
16 page catalogue

Oh shit, I gotta get that book!
Amazon has it (in stock)
A few more things-
Captain Action was almost called Captain Magic &
In early ads and TV commercials he's got GI Joe's hands-his weren't ready yet
Hey TCM
This guy-Stan Weston
Re-GI Joe
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Also created Captain ActionWhile Mr. Weston is not the sort to loudly claim paternity, it was indeed he who conceived and presented the action figure concept to Hasbro via Don Levine. Specific details of his contributions are laid out in my follow-up coffee table book, GI Joe: The Complete Story of America's Favorite Man of Action-
and went on to create Mego's World's Greatest Super Heroes !

Yep, yep, I just recently read a bit about him in that multi part Story of Mego that Action Figure Digest did the last few months!
